Head-to-Toe Secrets (Skin care for your body)
Do you have bumps on your skin? What about dry elbows, varicose veins and body odor? If you said yes to any of this, then you would find my post Head-to-Toe Secrets helpful to you. I have written how to get rid of the pesky bumps, soften dry elbows and temporary varicose vein treatment. Please read below.
Bumps Remover
Do you have lots of those tiny bumps on the backs of your arms, legs, or anywhere? Those are clogged pores. To unclog pores, mix together 2 tablespoons of sugar, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and 5 drops of vegetable oil. Rub the blended mixture on your bumpy skin in a circular motion for about 1 minute on each part. Rinse off with warm water. The citric acid in the lemon unclogs the pores as the abrasiveness of the sugar sweeps away dry skin and the oil moisturizes the area, making your arms nice and smooth.
How to soften dry elbows
Cut a lemon in half and drizzle a few drops of baby oil on each half. Stand over the sink and put an oily lemon half over each elbow(one at a time!)- then squeeze and twist the lemon like you are juicing it. Put the lemon halves on the table and place your elbows in them. Stay that way (if you can), for 30 min. Then rinse and dry off your newly cleaned and smoother elbows.
All-Natural Underarm Deodorant
Fill a clean, empty face-powder container with baking soda, and apply evenly under your arms using a powder puff or blush brush. The alka-line nature of baking soda balances pH levels to neutralize odor.
*POWER UP YOUR DEODORANT- If you have a real perspiration problem and feel more secure using commercial deodorant, you can boost its power by applying baking soda over it to absorb additional moisture.
-If you have ran out of deodorant, you can use antiseptic mouthwash or apple cider vinegar to neutralize odor. Just dampen a washcloth, and pat it on your armpits.
*UNDERARM STAIN PREVENTION*
If you are wearing a light colored shirt or blouse-and you don't want to let them see you sweat- stick a self adhesive mini-pad(panty liner) on the inside of your armpits for your garment. If profuse prespiring is a major problem for you, ask your Doctor about Botox injections. They are now standard treatment to help reduce sweat problems.
Prevent Body Odor Easily
Baths made with apple cider vinegar help fight off unfriendly bacteria and fungal overgrowth that may cause body odor. A couple times a week, pour 2 to 4 cups of apple cider vinegar in with your hot bathwater and take a nice soak for at least 10 minutes. then either rinse off under the shower or just dry off...and trust the smell of vinegar will disappear within 30 minutes. For body odor prevention, its best to use pure, unprocessed apple cider vinegar, which is available at health-food stores.
Temporary Varicose Vein Treatment
After taking a warm bath or shower, soak a few washcloths in witch hazel and wrap them around your legs, covering the veins. Sit with the towels on-with your legs extended-for 5 minutes.
Witch hazel has astringent and vasoconstrictive properties, which will temporarily lighten the appearance of varicose veins and help reduce inflammation.
I hope this information that I have written was helpful to you(or a friend). Please take the poll at the bottom of this page and tell me what you think of this Article. Thanks!
Get Rid Of Smells - Household
Getting Rid of Household Smells
We all know how hard it is getting rid of smell in the house. I have found that it is easier than we all think it is. Here are some things I have learned over the past year being a Mother and I am passing them down to you!
Steaming Out Cigarette Smoke
If you've spent time in a smoke-filled room, chances are your clothes will reek from it. To get rid of the odor, fill a bathtub with steamy hot water and add 1 cup of distilled white vinegar. Carefully hang the smoky garment so that the steam envelopes it.
Use a padded hanger so that the garment doesn't get pupkees(those unwanted epaulet-type shoulder bumps). If you don't have a padded hanger, you can pin shoulderpads around the ends of a hanger to avoid getting the pupkees.
Booze for Cigarettes
Fill a plastic spray bottle with 1 ounce of Vodka and 3 ounces of water. Mist-spray the smoky garment and hang it up to dry. The booze mixture should help to neutralize the cigarette-smoke smell. But you may still smell like a saloon.
Just Like New...
If you have a new washable garment that has an unpleasant chemical finish or dye smell, add 1/2 cup of baking soda to 1 gallon of water in a sink or basin, and presoak the clothing for at least 2 hours.
After soaking, toss the clothing into the washing machine, and wash as usual. During the rinse cycle, add 1/2 cup of distilled vinegar.
NOTE: This de-smelling process will also work if you(and your clothes) have been sprayed by a skunk.
Hinder Hamper Smells
Cut off the foot of a pair of clean pantyhose and fill it with baking soda or kitty litter. Tie the opened end closed and keep the soda or kitty litter filled foot in your hamper. IT will absorb moisture and help prevent stinky mildew from building up. Refresh the baking soda or kitty litter every month.
*HAPMER FRESHENER: In addition to-or instead of the baking soda in a stocking- sprinkle a little baking soda on clothes that you put in the hamper each day. The hamper wont smell, and when you do wash the clothes, the baking soda will make them softer and smell fresher!
Scentsational Gym Bag
Place a fabric softener sheet in the bottom of a gym bag. This will help mask the smell of sweaty clothes and sneakers-and you'll know when its time to put in a new softener sheet.
Managing Mothballs
If you store clothes in mothballs, let them air out for several hours when you first take them out. then toss them clothes in a warm dryer for about 15 minutes. You may want to add a fabric softener-sheet, but check the information on the softener box to make sure the softener wont stain clothes.
Tablecloths, Mats, Curtains(Plastic)
If a plastic item doesn't lose that yucky plastic smell soon after being unwrapped and out in the open, then help it along by soaking it in a sink with 1/2 cup of baking soda.
If the item also needs softening, add 1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar to the baking soda water. Let it soak for 3-4 hours. then rinse and air-dry.
I hope this information help those of you who are looking to get rid of them pesky smells that are in your (or a friends) household. Happy Cleaning!
